The sixth commandment says, “Thou shalt not kill.” (Ex 20v13) A killing of human beings forbidden by Yahweh to those who are in covenant with him.
Murder:

Justified Killing:
1. Legitimate Authority
2. Self-Defense

4. Capital Punishment
Biblical Basis:
1. Yahweh God did command the killing of humans, both as punishment for capital offenses (Gen 9v6; Ex 21v12-14; 21v15-17; 22v18-20; Lev 20v10-16) and during the war (Deut 7v1-2; 20v16-18; 1 Sam 15v3).
2. The New Testament focuses more on forgiveness and turning the other cheek (Mt 5v38-39) but does not dismiss the concept of legitimate authorities bearing the sword (Rom 13v1-4).
