Is remarriage considered adultery?

👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️God’s original design for marriage was meant to be permanent (Gen 2v24-25).
💔 Divorce was permitted due to the hardness of the heart (Mt 19v7-8).

“Whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.” Matthew 19v9

⚖️ Grounds for Divorce in NT:
Adultery (Jesus’ teaching in Mt 19v9).
Abandonment (Paul’s teaching in 1 Cor 7v15).

☝🏻 While abuse as grounds for divorce is not explicitly addressed in scripture, 1 Corinthians 7v15 (“God has called us to peace”) suggests that separation may be necessary for safety.

❓What Should Someone Do if They Have Remarried Unbiblical?
🗣️ Confess and repent before God.
👥 Seek wise biblical counsel.
💍 Honor the current marriage covenant rather than breaking it again.

❓What Should Someone Do if They Are Planning to Marry a Divorced Person?
🕵🏻‍♂️ Seek biblical clarity on whether the divorce was for biblical reasons.
🙏 Pray and consult godly mentors and church leaders.
💭 Remember that God calls us to peace, wisdom, and obedience to His Word.

‼️ The ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5v18-19) applies to marriage. If someone has divorced and remarried wrongly, there is still grace, but we must recognize the gravity of God’s standards.
