An offense is tied to pride and control. Those three in operation together are a deadly trio.

There are two types of offended people:
👉 Those who have been mistreated
👉 Those who think they have been mistreated but actually were not

Profile of an offended person:
1️⃣ Entitlement
2️⃣ Pride
3️⃣ Unfairness
4️⃣ Control

“But He turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.’” Matthew 16v23

👉 Offense is a stumbling block to your destiny.

👉 Offense is a trap of Satan.

👉 Offense makes you focus on things of men, not God.

Overcoming Offense:
1️⃣ When your heart is hardened, good things happening to you will not change it. It’s possible to have a hard heart even under godly leadership. (Ps 95v7-11)
2️⃣ Take God very seriously, and stop taking yourself too seriously.
3️⃣ Keep your heart right when things are not right.
4️⃣ Never grow out of repentance.
5️⃣ Lean into awkward!

“Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5v23

Gossip will not make you godly. Growth will require to lean into awkward conversations.
